Had a great day in the Statehouse today. We had presentations from the local DAV and VFW and what they do in terms of driving remote veterans into the VA hospitals in the area.
Later, we reviewed progress that affects Leavenworth with Director Kaspar of the Division of Motor Vehicles.
The Director reviewed:
- New Drivers license format that helps prevent identity theft
- Real ID
- Fraud Prevention
- There were 229 administrative fraud investigations last year.
- This is important for Homeland Security - false identities were a contributor to 9/11 attackers' ability to conduct their attacks.
- I asked if there may be a chance to secure federal funding as Kansas leads the way in fraud detection with regard to driver's licenses.
